Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
I supported Travelport's campaign efforts and brand awareness through email marketing and the external website. This meant something new every day! Sometimes I would be creating marketing emails to send to our customers, sometimes I would help build blog posts on our website, or sometimes I would be creating internal processes to help organise our CRM and make day-to-day processes easier for us
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
Travelport places a strong emphasis on giving interns responsibility and independence. Through intern projects to your typical job role, Travelport encourages you to welcome challenge and responsibility. I got to lead a variety of projects during my year of internship, and felt like I was encouraged to develop my leadership skills. However, when I felt less confident in leading, I always had a great support network around me to guide me through.

My support network at Travelport was incredibly strong. I had my manager and wider team supporting me, my mentor, and the intern panel. Which meant in every aspect, from my required job to my personal development, I had someone supporting and guiding me every step of the way

Company Culture
What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
People at Travelport are very welcoming to interns and getting you involved if you are interested in their area- even if that isn't your current job role! You get to meet so many people with a variety of experiences. You are treated the same as someone who has worked there for many years or just a couple of days. Anyone is up to grab a coffee and chat!

Overall Experience
To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
I thoroughly enjoyed my placement at Travelport. Not only has it taught me alot about the industry and working in a corporate environment, but it has changed me alot as a person- how I handle issues, my confidence, and my overall social skills. The people are great and the work you do is truly meaningful to them. They really do see you as part of their team

What advice would you give to others applying to Travelport
Do it!! Just because you haven't heard of the company before doesn't mean you should avoid it. Travelport have one of the most unique intern experiences of the lot. They care for not only your experience development but your personal development.
