Capital Markets Summer Analyst Review

As a Summer Analyst in Leveraged Finance, I contribute to both live transactions and pitch preparations. My responsibilities include developing a variety of analytical materials, such as credit comparable analyses, secondary trading level assessments, rating consideration summaries, pro forma capital structures, sources and uses tables, and leveraged buyout (LBO) models.

For pitches and RFPs, I was responsible for preparing substantial portions of the materials. Naturally, senior team members conducted thorough sanity checks and provided oversight of my work.

I refined my LBO modeling capabilities, enhanced my credit analysis skills, and improved my proficiency with Bloomberg. Furthermore, I gained a deeper understanding of the Leveraged Finance processes, realistic leverage levels across various subsectors, and the diverse product offerings of our firm.

During my initial two weeks, I benefited from approximately ten 1-long, Leveraged Finance-specific training sessions, which proved highly beneficial. Moreover, team members consistently dedicated time to explain complex concepts individually, even during periods of high workload. Overall, I received comprehensive support and guidance essential for my development.

The team fostered a highly positive and supportive atmosphere. They were welcoming and open-minded, creating an environment that felt less hierarchical than anticipated, which allowed me to feel like an integrated part of the team. Feedback provided was consistently constructive.

I thoroughly enjoyed my experience, largely due to the positive team atmosphere and the abundance of learning opportunities.
