Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.

Commercial Risk and Reinsurance broking summer intern in the Intellectual Property Team.
Pulling data from 2024 Benchmarking to review new and renewing policies for different insurers to then suggest improvements for them to be able to tailor to more of our clients and bind policies.
Creating client decks to essentially tell them why having IP Insurance will benefit them, current risks in the market and potential consequences for not having IP insurance.
ECM and PPL policy slips
Negotiate between client and the underwriter to provide the best policy

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?

Yes, given tasks to complete by set deadlines
Given responsibility to prepare solo presentation on IP, group presentation on neurodiversity and ECM'ing the IAC portfolio being built as the emails come in
Carrying out research on clients before client meeting, making sure to be aware of any patent infringement or litigations they have experienced

Company Culture

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?

Very warm welcoming culture, everyone was very friendly, even senior people were open to conversations and felt very welcoming
Good social opportunities going on the the wider team, Ie M&A and GBC generally, but not much in the IP team itself

Overall Experience

To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?

I really enjoyed my internship, except i think the work load could have been greater. I had a lot of opportunities to network and have coffee chats with loads of different people from different roles- which was inevitable
If the work load was slightly greater i would have completely enjoyed it
