Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.

I was an intern in the North American Property Broking team. Day to day I helped and shadowed each step of placing insurance for our clients both in the Lloyd's of London market and company markets. I also took part in a group project with other UK interns to investigate Neurodiversity support at the company and in the wider industry.

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?

I was given responsibility within my qualifications. For example, I attended client meetings, sent emails and submissions on behalf of senior brokers and created quote trackers.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?

I have developed a strong foundation in insurance, specialising in property insurance in the London markets. I have also developed relationship building skills between the other brokers, clients and underwriters. I have also taken part in training courses on wider topics in insurance.

Support and Guidance

How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?

I received lots of support from my manager and the early careers team during the internship. Other members of my wider team were also helpful and colleagues in different teams were always willing to answer questions and meet to learn more about their part of the business.
