Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.

My role is an app manager. I have a Management Portal where things such as software nearing End of Vendor support, Vulnerabilities Detected, Expiring Certificates and vulnerability assessments get flagged with a due date. I go through these notifications and notify dev teams and/or Business Information Owners, and get them to update things accordingly, and creating Jira Tickets if necessary.

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?

Throughout the placement I have been gradually gaining more responsibility. Once a task has been shown to me I will be asked to do it next time it comes up. That way I can build the amount of things I am able to complete.

I have developed Communication, organization, and time management skills. These have come from keeping track of who to contact about certain tasks relating to different apps and to stay on track with deadlines.

I was given a peer mentor at the beginning of the placement who is someone who has came through the same program I am doing, and a my manager and I are always closely in touch.
