Global Wholesale Operations Intern Review

I helped the Operations teams with their business as usual tasks, I was responsible for handling collateral payments on our margin accounts, reviewing limits for our nostro accounts ,reviews of daily reports for outsourced functions identifying outliers and escalating issues that had breached agreed upon thresholds. Daily CBI payments and overnight deposit payments collaborating with the treasury to ensure we meet our domestic and group liquidity needs through handling payments on accounts for swaps and interest obligations. I also attended weekly meetings and helped with minutes and reports related to our outsourcing functions. I also was responsible for identifying and escalating cash breaks.

I was given a good balance of responsibility, I had work that would carry me to the end of the day with not much capacity. I did not feel overwhelmed with the workload and was given sufficient support and additional responsibility when I reached out and was comfortable with my current task assignment.

Developed my business communication an data visualization skills. I increased my knowledge in the real of capital markets and capital markets operations and oversight. I was given exposure to payment systems including collateral management, liquidity management and transaction management systems. Exposure to Bloomberg terminals and increased knowledge of data visualization tools

I had ample support during my internship from my team and externally. Numerous provisions were put in place to ensure I was supported throughout my internship , social initiatives ,weekly check ins and training sessions and material ready for reference as I worked through my different roles.

The company culture was really wonderful. The company felt like it had a very flat structure with lots of exposure to members in senior leadership positions. Extremely enthusiastic and friendly co workers who were always happy to have conversations and share professional advice, useful resources and facilitate learning.

I was very happy with my internship. This internship offered me an excellent balance of practical work experience and and exposure to senior professionals and great elementary understanding of capital markets and the financial institutions that are involved in this domain. Lots of social initiatives and provisions for support that made the experience all the more comfortable and enjoyable
