Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.

In this role, I was given a placement on the Wealth Data Engineering Team where I completed assigned projects such as working on PowerShell Scripts and dashboarding. Moreover, I had a group Intern Project in which I developed technical skills using GitLab, Python, and contributed to a presentation about model development and chatbot creation. I also participated in workshops, spotlights, and networking events.

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?

I was given significant responsibilities such as independent projects for my team, individual tasks within my group project, and contributing work to employee networks.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?

Yes, I have learned an extensive list of technical skills in GitLab, Python, Chatbot Creation, Dashboarding in Tableau, Jira, and multiple other platforms. I have also developed my communication, presentation, and collaboration skills.

I received a significant amount of guidance from my manager, team, graduate mentors, and fellow interns. I found the culture to be incredibly supportive and communicative.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?

I felt that the company culture was incredibly supportive and communicative, fostering a good environment for learning. There was also a focus on collaboration and work-life balance which I greatly appreciated.

What advice would you give to others applying to NatWest Group

I would advise them to reach out to those working in NatWest, as they are very supportive and communicative about the culture and responsibilities within the company. I would also encourage them to apply for technical roles even if they don't necessarily come from a technical background, as there are so many opportunities to learn.
