Intern Trainee - Commercial Banking Review

The role is in the Structured Finance team within Commercial Banking. My role primarily involved writing sections of credit approval papers for discussions around lending decisions to certain corporates. Additional work included conducting excel models, pricing models, risk models, and valuations.
Primary work is research intensive and analytical work.

Yes, I felt I was given a more than expected level of responsibility that I enjoyed. I didnt feel like I was given typical intern work and was very happy with the tangible contribution I was able to bring to the team.

New skills include running different credit risk models that I didnt know much of, giving a good idea of internal models.
Mainly, it was a development of existing skills such as presentations, collaboration, analytical skills, and even some research skills.

The support from colleagues added to my line manager was superb. I did not feel like I was reporting to one person and only speaking to them, it felt like I was part of a larger team and they were generally happy to respond to any questions.

The company culture was extremely relaxed and friendly. It did not feel like a very hyper busy atmosphere like you would attribute to traditional banks.

It was extremely enjoyable and productive, could not have asked for more.
