Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.

Role included a placement with a team and an intern project, along with volunteering opportunities and networking. Daily schedule broadly followed the team's, which included meetings and time to do tasks.

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?

I was given autonomy to complete tasks for the team that ultimately produced resources used across the bank. The intern project was also independent, and required multiple weeks of work.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?

Became much more confident with practical deployment of ML methods, data pipeline setup. Also gained experience with financial products such as forwards contracts.

Team was approachable and friendly, line manager was available to answer any questions I had and spent multiple hours when I started bringing me in line with team activities.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?

Very good culture, multiple opportunities to connect with other interns through both structured events and after work trips. People within the bank very approachable and very willing to connect to answer questions.
