Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.

At the start of my placement i was given 3 projects to work on throughout my time at AstraZeneca. In a day, i would be organizing and attending meetings to speak to colleagues from different departments and areas to aid understanding and data collection for my projects. I also had the opportunity to network across the globe will people all across the business to learn more about the pharmaceutical industry. I attended tours of different buildings both on site and visited other UK sites relevant to my projects.

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?

All projects i was given were meaningful and had an impact on the future of the business. this came with a lot of responsibility

Yes, many! Communication and adaptation to different communication styles (e.g. via teams meetings, face to face, email); collaboration and team working skills; problem solving and organization of my ideas and reflection on what to investigate next or what information is missing; networking skills.

How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?

Lots of support both from my manager and supervisors in regular weekly meetings and other colleagues in the office - everyone is very welcoming of early talent and happy to help out!
