Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
10 week risk management internship in international privacy risk management, working as a project manager. Worked on a project for 10 weeks, contributing to the delivery of a regulatory-focused project, supporting process improvements, documentation governance, and stakeholder coordination. Day-to-day it involved meeting with team members to collaborate on the project, alongside this meeting for coffee to get to know other people at the company and getting involved in networking and other events.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
Yes, we were in charge of our own 10-week project that was needed to be completed to help the team we were working in.

Yes, I've developed my communication skills in a different way to how they were before through meetings and networking events. Increased my ability to adapt and remain resilient, plus learnt new project management skills relating to my role.

I received lots of support and guidance from my hiring lead/manager and the rest of my team. However, not much support from the campus teams/those in charge of orgnaising the internship.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
Generally, I really liked the company culture and atmosphere. Everyone was very friendly and very chatty. The company very much encourages collaboration and for people to help one another.

Overall Experience
To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
I definitely enjoyed my internship and would like to be able to go back to working for American Express. There were a few things that decreased my enjoyment, but they were less about the company. I think Amex is a great company to work for and my team were so lovely through the whole process.
