Company Culture

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?

Scotiabank has a unique culture for a Bank which is welcoming and encouraging - Canadian Banks generally have a different culture to the broader banking world, but Scotiabank in particular is very supportive particularly of juniors coming through

Overall Experience

To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?

I had a great time and I am so glad I chose to spend my summer at Scotiabank - you have a great balance of day to day work and building and developing your skills related to the role you were hired into, as well as being part of a broader programme with interns from other departments, and frequent opportunities to come together via weekly all-intern sessions and regular socials

What advice would you give to others applying to Scotiabank

Be authentic and open to learn - ask lots of questions, make the most of the fact you get lots of exposure to senior individuals. Make the effort to network within your department and outside of it - Scotiabank values juniors who are open minded, curious and understand how the whole bank fits together
