IT Analyst Review

The work I did involved contracts, budgets and data analysis. I would keep track of all the contracts we had with different vendors, how much they cost etc. and make the contract owner aware of upcoming expiries. Further into the placement, for some contracts, I was involved in the renewal process. In terms of budget, I would keep track of spend for a number of projects and I investigated any overspend. Some data analysis work I did included analysing website traffic and performance, investigating growth of user accounts and proportion of inactive users and creating a Power BI Dashboard to show intake requests and change requests.

Yes and the amount of responsibility I had increased as I progressed in my placement.

For technical skills, I learned how to use new platforms such as Google Analytics and Power BI and I improved my existing skills e.g. Excel. However, I saw the biggest change in my soft skills e.g. presentation, communication, decision making, confidence etc.

In the first few weeks we had weekly calls with the placement program lead and our wellbeing officer which was useful for asking questions and provided us with support and guidance. Throughout the placement, my manager was extremely supportive and offered me guidance and advice without hand holding. Everyone in my team was also always willing to answer questions and help me. As I came into the office every day I also had support from the other placements, grads and other office regulars.

Although everyone is expected to deliver results, the culture is very relaxed. Everyone is very friendly, kind and helpful. There were several social events throughout the year, whether it be within my wider team, IT or the company as a whole. TJX does a lot of charity events including partnering with Comic Relief for Red Nose Day.

I really enjoyed the placement: I learned lots, grew in confidence, got a better sense of what I want out of my career and met lots of great people.
