Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.

Software Engineering - creating a project to be used for other business teams, helping technology team with daily tasks; meeting people across businesses, going through financial and technology training.

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?

I was given a fair amount of work that usually other people weren't dependent on but it had an impact on business once I finished it.

Yes, I developed a lot of financial knowledge within banking industry, especially markets and trading. I also learn Java and team software engineering practices.

How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?

My team was always really supportive and helpful but quite a few times they lacked direction in what I had to do leaving me quite confused.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?

General atmosphere is really nice, quite calm but supports you in working hard. People are really friendly and open to talk.

Overall Experience

To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?

I really enjoyed my internship, especially the culture, learning. I sometimes did not particularly enjoy the job I was doing where it was purely software engineering.

What advice would you give to others applying to Citi

Don't be afraid to apply for technology division for harsh culture, people are really nice and welcoming. And once you are in, meet as many people as you can within the company.
