Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.

The role is a mix of doing financial strategy work and providing data science analytics and insights. My day to day work consists of working on projects that were assigned to me, and whenever some client work with a deadline comes up I work on that until the deadline.

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?

Yes, I was leading and doing the work regarding the projects assigned to me and being guided by my analyst or manager.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?

Yes, in terms of technical work I became proficient in Excel and PowerPoint which I had limited experience with previously. Furthermore, even though I was already relatibely proficient in python I gain significant experience surrounding working on a codebase and with git.
I also learnt a lot about finance in general and the various metrics and multiples that are used throughout investment banking and finance as a whole.

It was a good balance of being giving time to learn and figure it out myself, with further guidance, support and training given by my more experienced colleagues.

Company Culture

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?

It was great, everyone was very welcoming and supportive. People asking to grab lunch or coffee to have a chat about more than just work, and consistently being asked how I'm doing and if I need any help. Everyone from all levels saying please and thank you regardless of experience.
