Overview of the Experience

Please give an overview of what your experience involved:
5/5
LIFT is targeted at those from low-socioeconomic backgrounds which meant that we could network with those from similar backgrounds. It allowed us to get an insight into the different practice areas of the firm e.g. corporate, aerospace and catastrophic loss. This broadened my understanding of legal practice sectors. There were sessions about personal development, e.g. mock interviews, personal branding, CVs. It allowed us to build our own confidence. There was an opportunity for a casework presentation were you worked with others to create a argument for a case.
How well organised was your experience?
5/5
The experience was really well organised. It was a hybrid set up which was an accessible experience. Aswell they had different locations so they ensured that people could access it. The structure stayed the same so things were varied each day.
To what extent did you enjoy your experience?
5/5
I really enjoyed the experience! It was so broad but we had the opportunity to ask so many questions. We got to build our own knowledge behind the legal sector as they don't expect you to have any legal knowledge before starting. So it's a great way to break into the legal experience.
How much did your experience help you in deciding on your future career path?
5/5
It has really helped me identify the other pathways into law such as becoming a paralegal. I didn't know that before starting and it's definitely helped me think that the legal sector is an option for me.
Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
I was paid and reimbursed expenses

Skills Development

What training and skills development did you learn from your experience?
5/5
We got taught how to present a casework argument by showing us how to create a good setup. Also, we had the opportunity to develop our personal branding. I managed to practice my interview skills through a workshop and then a mock interview. They helped us reflect on our experiences after each day.

Company Culture

How much did you learn about the company culture and what it would be like to work there?
4/5
I learnt alot about Clyde & Co's emphasis on diversity and inclusion and the importance of social mobility in the firm. You could tell it was a main focus for the firm. We got a good insight into how it would be to work there through speaking and networking with employees.
Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees?
4/5
There were networking sessions and we had the opportunity to meet employees through panels.
