I am a first year performer for the CoE tax side of PwC, meaning that I mainly help out with updating documentation concerning tax for clients. I also worked with other divisions and interacted with clients to ensure a high level of documentation.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I would say that the work initially was stressful due to not knowing much due to the training I received being mainly focused on Core Audit and not the Centre of Excellence. However, as I got to know my colleagues and receive help from everyone I began to enjoy my programme more as I felt more confident in myself.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have learnt how to manage my time more efficiently and how best to interact with my colleagues and clients. I have improved on my understanding of how accounting firms operate and how best to document my work.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

My programme is extremely well organised as it allows me to gain a strong general understanding of accounting from university for the first two terms and then putting me into a strong work environment where I get to understand how everything ties in and operates. I think this is the best form of learning.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I received a lot of support in the form of a Career Coach and a Connect Development who both helped me settle in and understand how everything works and comes in together. However, due to the busy nature of the job, I sometimes felt a little worried when unable to ask someone for help due to everyone being busy.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I receive a lot of support as I am learning throughout my qualifications and also receive a month of training before the start if my job.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I think it is extremely helpful as it allows me to have a greater understanding of how my job works before I am even fully graduated. This means that i am able to perform much better in my role.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

I have attended a few social events with the company as well as an Away day which helped everyone from all over the country come together and finally meet.

Would you recommend PwC to a friend?
Yes
Why?
The way the company works is very easy to understand and my internship has allowed me to develop at a quicker pace than I think is possible anywhere else.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to PwC?
Go into the internship with an open mind and be willing to take on the challenges that you will face because it will not be easy but it will be manageable if you work hard. Remember to always ask for help when unsure as everyone there is willing to help you.
