Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

My role as Assistant Buyer includes day to day admin, preparing reports, assisting my buyer in speaking to suppliers and attending supplier meetings, sample management, looking after swapping product in and out of ranges, creating range plans, setting new products up and managing price changes.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I definitely enjoy my apprenticeship and job role, it is challenging at times but everything will come with experience and time. It is great to learn new things and be able to experience things within the industry.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Yes, lots of new and developed skills. I have developed teamwork, timekeeping, organisation, I have also learnt new skills in excel, negotiation, product knowledge.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

It got more structured towards the end as I approached EPA, the assignments were generally well structured and easy to follow.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

From my current buyer I feel very supported and that they are there should I need any help with anything.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

My mentor within the training provider was very helpful and there for support when needed. We had regular meetings and training sessions preparing for the assignments and EPA.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

It has given me more context to the industry and helped to develop my skills in buying.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Yes, we have a social committee who organise lots of social events.

It is a nice environment and I feel as though I have had a good experience whilst completing my apprenticeship and prior to it.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Ryman?
I am very pleased with where I currently am placed in Ryman and my advice would be to stay positive and enthusiastic!
