Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
Carrying out structural calculations, analysis and modelling and finding structural engineering solutions. This involves choosing structures and details that are economical and practical that minimises embodied carbon. It also involves communication through drawings, sketches, digital modelling, calculation documents, meetings, presentations, discussions, emails, written reports and electronic messages.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
Yes I was given responsibility when carrying out tasks, such as communicating with other stakeholders and utilising my judgment to make the right structural decision.

I have developed my communications skills in meetings, discussions, presentations, emails and through electronic messages. I have also gain software skills and developed my technical knowledge through numerous tasks.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
The have a nice warm atmosphere that is very welcoming for everyone. They have a great support and learning attitude that I've never felt scared to ask any questions or any support. They embrace diversity of opinions, peer feedback and community work.

To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
I enjoyed my internship to the point that I see myself working with them for the longer term. It is a relieve feeling of doing tasks that you enjoy and interested about. I see myself working for this company and not only professionally developing myself, but also personally.
