Data Science Intern Review

During my internship, I worked as a Digitalization and Data Science Intern within the Smart Infrastructure – Electrification and Automation (SI EA) division at Siemens. My role primarily involved identifying opportunities to streamline internal processes using digital tools such as Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI, and Snowflake.
On a day-to-day basis, I collaborated with cross-functional teams to understand business challenges, translate them into digital solutions, and develop low-code/no-code applications to automate workflows. This included building asset tracking systems, developing digital job instruction sheet platforms, and integrating data from SAP and SieSales for analytics dashboards. I also supported Generative AI adoption across the business by delivering training sessions on Microsoft Copilot and Siemens GPT, demonstrating practical use cases to enhance productivity.
Overall, my role was a blend of technical development, stakeholder engagement, data analysis, and user training, contributing directly to the digital transformation efforts of the business.

Yes, I was given a significant amount of responsibility during my internship, which made the experience both challenging and rewarding. I led the development of multiple digital tools from concept to deployment, including an Engineering Lab Asset Tracking system and a Digital Job Instruction Sheet platform. These solutions were implemented to address real business needs and are now being used by teams across the organization.
I was also responsible for driving the adoption of Generative AI tools within the business. This included designing and delivering training sessions for over 200 employees, including senior leadership, to demonstrate practical use cases of Microsoft Copilot and Siemens GPT.
In addition, I was trusted to engage directly with stakeholders, manage timelines, and independently propose improvements — all of which helped me grow in confidence and accountability.

Yes, this internship has significantly helped me both learn new skills and deepen my existing ones.
