Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.

Working on tasks on projects that are given by members in the team. I have only worked with energy and sustainability so far but have interacted with the whole MEP team and attended meetings with the wider team. Have also interacted with the other interns in other teams at lunch and socially. I have been working on IES-VE and sustainability compliance. Colleagues are happy to help if I have any questions.

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?

Yes I have been given tasks on real projects that do get looked over but I am trusted to be able to complete it.

I have developed my existing skills with IES-VE and excel, as well as some presenting/talking skills as I presented some work in a teams call.

How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?

You are assigned a buddy who helps you from the first day with the work you are working on but also with day to day things in the office and introduces you to other co-workers. The induction meeting was also very useful with a tour of the office.

Company Culture

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?

Everyone is really friendly and welcoming. Not cliquey and there is interaction between different teams at lunch and social events. Office is bright and clean with some nice plants and coffee machines.

Overall Experience

To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?

I have only been here for 3 weeks but I have enjoyed it so far especially as everyone is very welcoming. I will be trying different work so looking forward to that.
