Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
My role is to give true and fair audit opinion on the financial statement.
From junior lever, you will start some admin work, such rolling forward prior year working paper, filling some audit platform nodes, preparing some basic working paper (including statutory records,board minutes, and cash). Then when you gain some experience, you will be charge of some standard risk field work testing. All make sure financial statement present fairly.

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
I would say yes.
At the beginning, you may just doing some really easy and basic job. However, after two months, you will be given some standard risk area which you will almost fully responsible to your working paper. You can talk with clients directly and emailed them to make sure the evidence you gained is sufficient and valid. Also after half a year, you can give some support or guidance for those who are new to engagement.

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
New skills: mastering audit platform (Atlas Nexgen)
Develop existing skills: Firstly, you will definitely develop your social skills, including communicating with team members and clients. Secondly, you will apply knowledge learnt in the university and see how the real industry operate. Thirdly, your software skill will enhance a lot, especially excel, which is like your three meal. You need to use everyday.

Support and Guidance
How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
You will receive lots of support and guidance. You have line manager who will support you all the time through placement. You will also have coach, who will be the peer to guide you and if you have questions you can ask straight away. But I think it's all about your attitude. Since everyone in the firm encourage juniors to ask questions as many as possible, the more you ask the more support you get.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
The company culture is really inclusive, which means they are really open and welcome. They also arrange different activities depending on which team/department you are in. So you can quickly adpat into working environment and find your friends and get good involved into teams.
