Initially, I was provided with a lot of guidance, which made me feel supported and allowed me to gain confidence. I never felt like I had been dumped in the deep end. As my confidence increased, the support I received decreased and by the end of my placement I felt confident enough to run projects completely independently, only asking for assistance when I become really stuck.

I have learnt how to manage 7/8 projects at a time independently, requiring organization and efficiency.
My technical knowledge has improved exponentially. I came to the company not knowing what a turbocharger was and can now competently build them, and talk through the components and their functions. As well as the testing required and different specifications.

Everyone I worked with, including the customer, provided me with a large amount of support. My manager expertly withdrew support as he decided I needed to gain independence. I feel that my team helped me so much during the first half of my placement that it meant by the second half I was extremely knowledgeable.

I was constantly surprised how welcoming the atmosphere was. Everyone smiles at you when you pass in the corridor, and holds doors open if you're within sight. Whether you know someone or not this is the case, and often people that I didn't know would stop and ask me about my day out of kindness.
It struck me very early on in my placement how lovely everyone was, and was my first comment I made when people asked me how my placement was going.

I cannot express how much I have enjoyed my placement overall. I have felt completely supported throughout and even when I struggled with living away from family and external factors negatively affected me, work provided a safe space for me and I never begrudged going to work.
