Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.

On a day-to-day basis I meet with me team and set out tasks for the day. This will usually include doing a GMS (pension) analysis for GP practices and doing their bookkeeping for them. I may have to also look through their opening debtors and creditors, and also organise payroll and stock.

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?

I was given a lot of responsibility over these spreadsheets, but I also felt very supported by my team and buddy to a point where I felt confident in what I was doing. I felt comfortable to ask people questions and ask for more work where I needed.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?

I have learn a lot more skills on Excel, and have learnt how to bookkeep and the role of an accounting in GP practices. I have learnt how GPs run as a private business and also developed my understanding of the career.

Support and Guidance

How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?

I received a lot of support from my buddy especially and my people manager. My buddy will meet with me everyday to ensure I have work to do and that I know what I am doing. Additionally, the rest of the team would always check in with me to make sure I was feeling looked after!

Company Culture

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?

Very friendly and welcoming. Everyone felt very relaxed and was always inclusive! People were happy with their role here and liked the company environment al lot.

Overall Experience

To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?

I really enjoyed it! I had not many expectations coming here, but I genuinely am beyond impressed with how supportive the company are! I have also enjoyed the work I have been doing as well!
