Overview of Experience

Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
The insight into both Pinsent Masons and City-law generally was an opportunity I am very grateful for.
Day-to-day I was really involved by completing / aiding with work for clients on current matters. I worked on a range of different matters and gained an expansive variety of knowledge across the department’s practice.
What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
It was great to get to understand how the firm approaches the various roles in their own unique way. A particular highlight regarding this was an online session exemplifying the unique ‘Vario’ and paralegal opportunities. It was great to get a better understanding of the options available and how they fit into the wider Pinsent Masons team structure.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
One skill I immensely developed was my attention to detail. Working with such intricacies on draft documents for clients meant that I had an increased level of responsibility and therefore had to have the utmost attention to detail.
I also developed my people and communication skills, conversing with a wide range of people across the firm, from Partners and Associates, to Team Assistants, Catering staff. Also getting to know colleagues in my department.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
From the moment I stepped into the office building, I felt the warm and friendly culture and this was embodied by every individual I met across the two week placement. I felt incredibly comfortable around each PM colleague, it was a safe place to ask many questions and get involved with everything you had the opportunity to. It’s a place with a culture and atmosphere I would have the pleasure of working at.
