Overview of Experience
Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
Liaising with the team. Collaborating on complex tasks. Conducting research on various practice areas and applying them to real life issues. The level of responsibility varies.
What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
It was really insightful. You understand how a law firm truly works, you see how the work gets divided up and how it comes together at the end for the client. You get an idea of whether law is the career for you even if you have not studied it before going into the vacation scheme and you may also understand which practice area or type of work you enjoy, whether that is contentious or transaction work.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
You get to develop your critical thinking skills, your legal research skills, time management is very important as well. You learn how a law firm truly operates and you learn new things from the everyone you interact with. You truly learn something new everyday.

Company Culture
How would you rate business leader involvement during the insight

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
The company culture really stood out for me and the rest of the interns. Everyone was lively and kind to one another. We had support from every direction. We were able to interact with everyone in the building and learn about their personal experiences. Within a few minutes and throughout the weeks the interns and I had agreed that the culture was truly incredible at DLA. While the firm stressed we were there to see if DLA was the fit for us, we all .unanimously agreed it was without a doubt.

Overall Experience
To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
I really enjoyed the insight. I was quite grateful to have gotten on the AC and then the VS. It was truly a wonderful experience. Every moment was enjoyable, including all the socials, the networking events, and the extra-curricular sport events. I think the VS gave me a really good idea of what the work is like in a law firm and if that is something I enjoy, it gave me a really good insight into the culture and what makes DLA a fantastic place to work at.

What tips or advice would you give to others applying to DLA Piper
I would say be your true authentic self. Let that shine through in your application, video interview, and AC. Don't stress about the small things. I tried not to overthink it especially the video interview and AC. Also the tests are not designed to throw you off, they want you to succeed and go through.
