Overview of Experience
Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
I worked in IPT and Lit & Reg.
IPT: I proof-read contracts, attended internal meetings and client meetings, and undertook some research tasks.
Lit & Reg: I went to court, and undertook research tasks.
In both seats I had the opportunity to network with trainees, associates, and partners.

What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
It was highly rewarding. If anything, it truly confirmed why I want to be a lawyer and why I want to work at a global law firm like DLA Piper.

Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
Soft skills: I developed my networking and communication skills, through speaking and engaging to employees of the firm.
Research skills: I developed my research skills especially when it comes to case law and using sites such as west law and practical law.
Organizational skills: Whilst it was important to get stuck in with the work, I made sure not to spread myself too thin. This was so I could meet deadlines.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
Incredibly friendly - from the interns, to the trainees, to the associates, to the partners, DLA clearly has an archetype.
This is not to say everyone is the same, everyone is different (and that's the beauty of it). But everyone at DLA has immaculate soft skills, are extremely extroverted, and most importantly - truly kind.

To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
To the fullest extent. If there were 10 stars I would give it. I loved the work, I loved the atmosphere, I loved my colleagues.
