Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.

Recruiting insurance professionals into the London Insurance Market specifically on the Broking desk. My role is split into two, half is the recruitment side focusing on finding candidates and the other half is admin based. My day-to-day responsibilities on the recruitment side involve checking candidate applications, reviewing CVs, registering candidates, sending CVs to clients, interview preparation and interview feedback. Daily I am on LinkedIn and Reed finding placeable candidates for our roles. On the admin side, I format CVs and write up job adverts.

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?

Yes, from the very beginning we were treated as full time employees as we were given full responsibilities to run our own recruitment desk.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?

By doing this, I have gained confidence on the phone talking to candidates as I get a deeper understanding of the Insurance industry. Writing the job adverts has improved my creative writing skills as they need to attract good candidates therefore need to be written well. As well as this, I have gained key transferable skills that I will be able to take into any future work place.

Support and Guidance

How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?

I received a lot of support. The training programme at the beginning with very insightful as we were given a range of online training sessions as well as in person sessions with the Directors and Senior members of the team. As well as this, we had to undergo two more in person modules of learning with specialised learning and development experts. Throughout my placement my team would offer support and guidance whenever I had any questions or needed any advice.

Company Culture

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?

Overall it is a very social company culture. We would celebrate the end of a 4-week period each month by going to a local pub and socialising with the wider company. This allowed us to converse with many people we normally wouldn't on a day-to-day in the office. There were also many events throughout the year that the office managers would put on to help bring us together as a wider company which was lots of fun, this included sports day and much more!
