Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
My role is to place as many candidates as possible into legal roles. To do this effectively, I have to call candidates regularly, arrange meetings with them to understand their requirements in a new role, sending and receiving many emails, posting job ads, amending CV's, ensuring candidates are compliant, logging aftercare calls etc.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
So far, I feel like I have been given a good amount of responsibility. I never have nothing to do. I am not given set task lists by my manager, I just know what needs completing in a day. The more you get to know your candidates, you develop a sense of responsibility over them and try to help them as much as possible.

Support and Guidance

How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
At the beginning we had a lot of online training to do to teach us the basics which was very long but useful. We have also had a lot of in-person training sessions with different staff members. These are good as it is a more collaborative style of learning. All the colleagues on my team are very supportive and I feel comfortable asking for help. Often they ask how I'm getting on with tasks.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Hays to a friend?
Yes
What advice would you give to others applying to Hays
I would advise that they need to be a confident individual who is looking to help people find a suitable role. I would say you need to be organised to do well in a job like this and work towards you targets. You also can't be afraid to make mistakes as this is the best way to learn in a job like this. Although training is helpful, the best way of learning is by doing, and I appreciate the practical experience you get so early on at Hays.
