Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

My role as a welder is to correctly weld the jobs to our companys standard and keep within our wps. I check all of my welds to ensure the quality is the best of my ability and that there is no defects
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I really enjoy work. I did win the apprentice of the year award 2025 for my company . I really enjoy welding as well , learning different ways to weld and different positions of welding. Treads to flooring to stanchions , learning to boost my heat settings up.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have learned how to weld and safely use an abrahasive wheel with training . I have also learned how to use a crane with the correct training . My team building skills have improved as well by working with other people every day of my working career.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

My programme is very well organised as the college did help me through the theory side of the course with the classroom work and also going into the workshop and learning how to stick ( MMA) weld.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I recieved quite alot of support from my employer as they pushed me to get to where i am now. I am thankful for the opportunity of being an apprentice here as i have learned so much and been given help as and when i need it.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I receive alot of support. I am allowed to go upstairs when i want to as i have college work on the smart assessor to do and also to do revision for my EPA which is what i find very good about my training provider.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I dont think it will change my performance in my role as i will still be the same , if not better . My qualification would help me get higher up as in a level 3.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

YES! There is so many activities to do, for example the gallon walk is happening very soon which is an 8 mile walk but you stop every mile at a pub. Also the works christmas party happens every year and gets everyone together for a drink before Christmas.

Its a brilliant company for young people as you learn so many skills and meet so many nice people too!
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Lionweld Kennedy Group?
I would advise them to make sure they have their maths and english level 3 minimum as thats what you need. Also to be on time every day make sure u get here atleast half an hour before you start
