Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
On a day-to-day basis during my electrical maintenance apprenticeship with Jaguar Building Services, I carry out routine checks, PPMs, and reactive tasks across various systems. I interact daily with my site team, supervisors, and contractors, ensuring smooth operations. I also liaise externally with clients and subcontractors when needed. My responsibilities include maintaining building systems, supporting ongoing projects, and ensuring compliance with safety procedures.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
Although I had never thought of about doing an electrical apprenticeship whilst at school, I have found enjoyment with the people that I have worked with over the past 4 years and also during my time at Hackney New City College I have made friends. With regards to the work that I do onsite, I personally enjoy the changes and problem solving that get presented to me each week and learning from the experience so that I am able to use those skills I've learnt the next time a similar change comes around.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
My apprenticeship with Jaguar Building Services has consisted of a level 3 electrical maintenance and installation, along side my training in health and safety, fault finding, inspection and testing, IPAF, PASMA. I've also been able to picks up bits of knowledge while working with sub contractors and engineers on site.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
While I was one of the first to change over from JTL to NCC, the process for me was relatively smooth. my weeks were structed clearly that during term time I'd have one day a week at college and the remained of the time I would be placed at site for 6 months allowing me to learn from different engineers and building to gain new experience from them. during my fourth year I've now gone to 5 days a week on site with the occasional visit to college to finish my portfolio
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
I have found that whenever I have had a issue or query that wasn't able to answered on site jaguar have always been able to answer or explain the situation clearly and fairly. I and the other apprentices have a quietly meeting with the senior account manger for our business unit to overview anything that's gone on in the past 3 months and anything that might be coming in the next 3 months.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
At NCC my tutor has provided support and guidance throughout my apprentices, if there's been any problems I have been able to raise them to him or the the apprentices overseer.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
while at points I was unsure of what I'd be able to do with my qualification after my apprenticeship, I have now been made clearly aware of what my qualifications will be and what I'll be able to do with them. With the training I've received for my qualifications and the addition training that jaguar as provide me, I am able to be safer and more useful on site.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Jaguar do have extra-curricular activates a lot of which are for charity. including bike rides, football and more. we also get a summer and Christmas party so that all the sites are able to meet up and socialise.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Jaguar Building Services to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Although my time in this industry has been limited Jaguar as a company have been welcoming and encouraging me to learn and to do better and all the employee's that I have work with have been friendly, polite, and supportive.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Jaguar Building Services?
I think my advice would be the same to anyone applying for any potion and that's to simply show an interest, it may not be what you thought your career was but if show an interest then you can go far with it, and for anyone aiming to do an apprenticeship, try to get ahead with your training don't let yourself fall behind like I've seen with other apprentices. lastly be afraid to ask question.
