Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
I work closely with leadership to align our people strategy with our company goals, ensuring we build and maintain a high-performing, values-driven team. A typical day might include everything from leading initiatives around performance management and professional development, to supporting managers with team dynamics or coaching sessions, to driving key DEI and wellbeing programmes.
I’m also focused on ensuring we maintain a great employee experience, whether that’s through implementing effective communication channels, listening to feedback, or continuously evolving our internal policies and practices to meet the needs of our team as we grow.
Ultimately, my goal is to build an environment where people feel valued, empowered, and excited to contribute to our mission at Althaus.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
One of the biggest areas of growth for me has been in using people analytics to drive more strategic conversations at the leadership level. I’ve become more confident in interpreting data to understand trends around engagement, retention, and performance, and using those insights to shape more targeted initiatives.
I’ve also deepened my skills in coaching and leadership development—supporting our managers to grow into stronger, more empathetic leaders has been a big focus. On top of that, I’ve had the chance to strengthen my knowledge around employment law and HR operations as we scale, which has been invaluable for building a strong and compliant foundation for the team.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?
The sessions are well paced and build on each other logically, which makes it easier to stay engaged and track my progress. I also appreciate the clarity around what’s expected, such as deadlines, assignments, and learning outcomes are clearly communicated, which helps with planning around a busy work schedule.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
I’ve also had regular check-ins with my manager to discuss how I’m applying what I’ve learned in real time, which has helped reinforce the learning and keep it relevant to my role. It’s been great to feel that the business sees this as an investment not just in me personally, but in the wider People function and our growth as a team.
