Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

Assisting the managing director within day-to-day office roles, particularly land referencing landowners, negotiating legal agreements and working on renewable energy projects including solar farms, waterways and telecommunications. Roles vary across project management, accounting and being responsible for ensuring projects run smoothly.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I find the balance of working and studying highly rewarding and have seen the growth and development within the last 18 months.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

General office skills such as finance, microsoft word/excel, negotiations, agriculture and generally improving knowledge of all renewable energy.

Harper Adams offer a very structured course with a mixture of outdoor practicals, indoor classroom-based learning and assessments.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

Every day i receive support from my Managing Director, guiding me through assignments and workload and supporting me with exams.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

Starting my APC next year, I will do quarterly reviews to check my progress and ensure I am undertaking work that will contribute towards this.

What tips or advice would you give to others applying to FGP Surveyors?
Ensure you obtain work experience in agriculture ie farming over summer
