Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

My daily responsibilities involve collaborating with senior designers at Consilium Technical Services to execute large-scale temporary traffic management projects. Additionally, I attend meetings with external clients to discuss the progress of these projects. I am also gaining expertise in conducting Road Restraint Risk Assessments.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I am thoroughly enjoying my apprenticeship, as it is laying the groundwork for my technical development in traffic management, as well as enhancing essential skills like communication and time management. I feel motivated every day at work, which drives me to further advance my development.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Throughout my apprenticeship, I have acquired new skills in temporary traffic management and learned how to integrate these into CAD, enhancing my existing CAD abilities. Additionally, I have improved my communication skills, both within Consilium Technical Services and with external stakeholders. Lastly, I have developed my project management skills to ensure timely and high-quality completion of the projects I work on.

How well organised/structured is your programme?

My apprenticeship at Consilium Technical Services has been well-organized and structured from day one. A dedicated training team follows a comprehensive plan to develop new apprentices, equipping them with the skills needed to create Temporary Traffic Management drawings. Throughout my apprenticeship, I will gain experience in all aspects of the business through set placements in each area.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

At Consilium Technical Services, I receive substantial support from my employer, who is as committed to my career development as I am. I have regular review meetings with my line manager and apprentice manager to assess my progress, identify areas where I need support, and explore opportunities for further development. Additionally, my employer allocates dedicated time each week for my apprenticeship, allowing me to work on tasks and projects outside of my daily responsibilities as part of my 'off-the-job' training hours.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I consistently feel supported by my training provider, who is always available to answer any questions related to assignments or any queries about my employer. Additionally, I have review meetings with my training provider and employer to discuss my progress.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
While the qualification isn't directly related to temporary traffic management, it is the most relevant one available. This qualification not only helps me enhance my presentation, communication, and report writing skills but also provides a solid foundation for further education in the future. By pursuing this qualification, I am able to develop a diverse skill set that will be beneficial in various aspects of my career and academic growth.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
