I am an apprentice carpenter. As an apprentice carpenter I have to learn the role of a qualified carpenter by following how my mentor does certain jobs which I can use to help me become qualified as a carpenter.

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

Yes, my programme has helped me develop new skills not just in the work place but at home and in general.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have learnt lots of new skills being a carpenter such as:
how to hang a door
how to cut and fit skirting boards
How to cut and fit architrave
How to final fix a house

How well organised/structured is your programme?

My programme is very well organised/ structured I am always notified if something changes. I think the idea of the zoom calls is good because some people struggle with being in a class room so instead of having to go to collage that is a much better alternative.

How much support do you receive from your employer?

As much as I need. Anytime I have a question or am struggling they are always there to help.

How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I get loads of support from my employer they are always pushing me to get things signed off of my signing plan to help me qualify as soon as possible.

How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

It helps me perform better because I know that when I am qualified I can work for myself so the harder I work my employer will able to see that and when it gets to the end of my apprenticeship they know I’m appropriately qualified.
