Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
Mostly as it’s a new industry and it’s always good to learn something new, especially something you want your career to be within. Being able to work with people you get on with and relate to as your all learning together in a way is also good as you can go to each other when you have any questions or need assistance in completing something. The directors are also there when you need help with anything which makes it a lot easier in general.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
Yes. My discipline has definitely improved along with personal character as it’s a change in environment for someone like me. My ability to communicate and make good decisions about the tasks I’m trying to achieve under pressure, along with teamwork as I have workmates along side me at all times. This also helps my ability to learn and take in as much information as possible as the people around me are very experienced as my company has 3 directors to assist me in any realm within the industry. My ability to use tools has also improved because as an electrician you need to use multiple tools to complete a job and it builds experience to know how they work and what they achieve.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
It’s very well organised as they’re are always check ups with how jobs are going and emails going out about jobs and what needs to be done. If there any issues there’s always someone on the other end of the line to direct aswell. With jobs that are required to be done in public areas are always followed with the correct set of rules to as everyone safety is always the most important thing when it comes to working so my company definitely does well in that.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
As much as I need/want. There’s never any second thought when it comes to asking for something I need as they always deal with that in the appropriate matter, they may not always be on the same site as you but you always have their contact details for you whenever you need assistance from them.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
Again, as much as I need/want. We have regularly check ups (once a week) as there at college and are always making sure things are going well within the apprenticeship and couldn’t have made it any clearer that they’re there for us as we also have their contact details.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
Very well, as they’ve had years of experience with it and have a lot of people learning the same thing as me asking for help with things all the time so they’re definitely understanding of what needs to be done when and where and I’m confident they will always make the right decisions as being in an apprenticeship is for your future careers.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
I’d say yes. I know at the end of every year or when a priority job is completed there is a get together to celebrate the past year of completions and successes. There are also frequent meetings to discuss how things are going which is good aswell as it gives us and our employers a chance to discuss if any changes need to be made to ensure a smooth experience:

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Cotswold Hill Developments to a friend?
Yes
Why?
The employees/directors around us are very experienced and can definitely install important knowledge within the industry at a good pace which is essential as electrics had a lot of things that are mandatory to be known and 4 years may seem like a lot of time but it’s not and I believe my company can succeed in creating good qualified people electricians for the future.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Cotswold Hill Developments?
Always give your best effort as impressing your employer is a lot more important than most recognise as it proves to them your keen on learning and being the best version of yourself. Be willing to learn things the hard way. That may be by your mistakes which may be looked bad upon but it’s the best way to learn.
