Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
My role as a nursery practitioner is to care for young children, from the ages of 3 months to 5 years old. My day consists of the general care of feeding, changing and putting them to sleep as well as keeping them safe and creating a stimulating environment where they can grow and nurture.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I've enjoyed it immensely, my work and colleagues have been really supportive in my apprenticeship. There is a lot to do but as long as you stay on top of your work it isn't hard to keep on track. With the qualification as the light at the end of the tunnel it's a good motivator.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Yes, I have never done childcare before so everything is new to me with nursery life. I found safeguarding very interesting as well as important to childcare. Being educated on the different types of abuse and what to look out for. How you should stay vigilant in your every day care in a nursery.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
My programme is well structured and organised, it breaks it down in months the different modules that is going to be taught to you. Before every module your mentor goes through with you the new module and they are easily contactable if you have any worries or queries on any section.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I have received a good amount of support from my employer. With the contract I have, my employee gives me 20% of my hours to work on my apprenticeship and they have been really good at putting that time aside for me. If I have needed help with a certain part of my assignment my management team have been great at helping and supporting me.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
I have received a good amount of support from my apprenticeship provider. They went through the whole apprenticeship with before I started and introduced me to my mentor who would be supporting me throughout my journey. If I have found any part of my assignments difficult my mentor has been on hand to help me.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
I feel like my apprenticeship provider has helped me proform better as sometimes ive not understood a question and they point me in the right direction or ask have you gone through the PowerPoint we did that covers this. My mentor is a great help and always puts my worries on parts of the apprenticeship to rest.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
As part of my apprenticeship I have extra activities i have to pass to eventually pass my apprenticeship. They involve being observed doing various tasks, I have my first one next week. I'm slightly nervous but more ready than anything. I'm just basically showing myself do my job i do every day.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Hopscotch Day Nurseries to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Because the nursery is a great place for children to grow and be happy. Its a great place to work and watch children grow and learn. My children attend hopscotch and they are so happy and get excited when they see the staff as they have formed an excellent bond with them.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Hopscotch Day Nurseries?
Just be yourself. Working with children you can't pretend to be someone else, you're with them for most of the day so they want a nice, comforting and genuine person with them. Try and make each day that bit special for them as they will miss their mum or dad and you giving them 100% makes their day that bit better.
