Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

Shadowing different departments on site, and with drivers. Learning what makes a logistics depot run, as well as gaining transferable skills in all areas of the business. Learning warehousing operations and transport operations.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

Get to speak to lots of different people and learn while I do so. Gaining lots of knowledge in things I didn't know before.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Gained experience using different transport systems, knowledge of vehicle maintenance requirements, knowledge of O-License undertakings. Gained confidence in talking to new people.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

Organisation at a depot level could have been better, but overall was good. Sometimes things were not communicated clearly.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
Excellent support network on site, can speak to drivers, office team or anyone in the business and they are always keen to share their knowledge and help out.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
Training provider always contactable by telephone and email, and are always able to support and clarify anything.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

Gave me excellent insight into the transport sector, really helped me to develop my career. Started as a driver apprentice and the knowledge I gained on this apprenticeship has allowed me to develop into a team leader int he transport department.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Recently there are starting to be more events outside of work, like charity football games.

Really good place to work, plenty of opportunities to gain training to develop your skills and plenty of people on site who have worked in the sector for years.

There are opportunities to progress if you put the work in and show initiative. If you're looking to go far, Culina will support you to do this. Always ask if there's something else you can learn. Plenty of skills to gain working here.
