Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.

Working with the mainteance department to support the departments goals.
Working with CMMS for maintenance scheduling and management.
Working with external contractors and service engineers to learn and develop technicality.
Supporting condition monitoring initiatives.
Developing a centralized data management system.

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?

Yes, I was given a lot of responsibility.
Firstly, ensuring I set up mettings for external contractors and in some meetings I had to prepare my minutes and deliver technical data in an understandable format.
Responsible for development of PPMS and setting and scheduling.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?

I have developed my critical thinking, learnt how to use CMMS (Hollistech), power BI, sharepoint and power apps, MES system, condition monitoring tools. I have improved communication skills, learnt and utilised my technical skills. I also have a better understanding of industrial knowledge and developed business skills. I have developed my critical thinking skills and gained hands on experience during my placement.

Support and Guidance

How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?

I was always provided with the right support. If the right support was not available in the department, I always went to source it out. As spirax is a large company with over 10000 employees. There is always someone with a solution, or who can point me in the right direction to find a solution.
