Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

As a media apprentice my day to day role involves supporting in strategic areas of our marketing campaigns such as looking into our testing on platforms such as META and TikTok and liaising with both brand teams and our media agency. My role also involves a data side of pulling and analysing data then visualising these in PowerPoints.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I really enjoy this programme as it offers a range of opportunities with great exposure from both internal colleagues and agencies/ external partners. The projects and tasks you are involved in are also key for developing a strong skillset. My team have been very supportive and want me to excel in this role and in future, so I have always been in a positive environment too which makes work very enjoyable.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

L'Oreal has a great skills and learning programme on platforms such as Excel but also with soft skills such as understanding burn out, time management and learning more on the wider business.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

i believe the structure is good. currently we work 4 days a week (3 in the office) with university on a Friday. I know for some companies that place the university day mid week however i think our structure allows you to separate uni and work which is extremely valuable especially when it comes to exams.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I receive a lot of support from my employer regarding the apprenticeship. the teams are all understanding of university life and not working on a Friday, especially when it comes to exams they help manage workload.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

Our training provider is supportive in terms of teaching us the content for our degree and again are understanding that we are 9-5 workers as well as uni students.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

For my role, it has helped me as I do competitor analysis and industry analysis and from doing this at university as welI have learnt how to do this efficiently. we also have a marketing module that overlaps the key fundamentals of what we do day to day
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

We have a society called Next Gen, involving apprentices at L Oréal. there are sports teams within this such as football or netball weekly. Social groups organise activities for us to do such as a next gen summer party and quizzes during mental health week.

Why?
I have really enjoyed my time at L Oréal i feel i have developed a lot as a person both in a soft and hard skill set point. the exposure i have recieved from projects has been trulyh valuable as well as meeting supportive people who want you to develop
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to L'Oreal?
be passionate! a lot of people don't have experience coming straight from school but being passionate about your function and even the company truly sets you apart
