Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
Firstly, the most important thing about my role is team work, the first thing we do every morning is the workshop maintenance (bin emptying, oil drain emptying, etc.). After this, we are all able to go to our mentors and start the working day. It can look different for everyone, but mostly it is servicing vehicles, and diagnosis. Weekly, we have meetings with a manager to discuss our progress and how we feel and that makes it an environment where you can speak your mind. Sometimes you may come across a customer and have to speak to them, but people are always nice if you are nice to them, so it's never an issue. The energy in the workshop is always high and everyone gets along well, so I enjoy my time at work.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
There's pros and cons of everything. The people are incredible, happy, and helpful, my only downside is that I never really am updated as to when we go to training which makes planning holidays and other things really difficult. Nevertheless, I do love my apprenticeship.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
Absolutely. I came into the motor trade with little to no experience but I have had all the support and help I could possibly ask for around me, and I now am much more knowledgeable then I was when I started. I was also a really shy person, and this place really bought it out of me, so im good with chatting to everyone now.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
2/5
It's OK. This is the only issue I have with it, it's hard to plan my personal life around work as I never know when I'm going to up at college for the week. A yearly timetable could fix this for future learners.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
We receive ample support here. All you need to do is voice what you want to be heard.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
Again, if you voice concerns, there is always someone who is more than happy to help you and guide you. You will never be left in the dark unless you allow yourself to be.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
I think this is a broad question. You learn far more while actually at work then you do when you go to college. College helps with general knowledge and is extremely helpful but for me, Im a hands on learner.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
On general holidays, i.e Christmas/Easter/Halloween, there's always something going on.
