Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
3/5
Working in audit requires performing testing over FSLIs to ensure financial statements are accurate. I would be given multiple FSLIs to test which includes picking samples from listings etc and checking the supporting documentation - such as invoices to check the client is documenting correctly.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
I have enjoyed 4th year a lot more compared to the previous years as the university side of it is less intense. However, I think I enjoyed my previous placements more due to travel.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
3/5
I have been able to develop my coaching skills as I have worked with an FS1 as well as oversee an RTM team which also required organisational skills.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
2/5
I thought the programme was structured well, although it was difficult, I think second and third year are well organised as we have to complete our exams in March before we go on placement and then break up for the summer. However, I was very disappointed this year and found it extremely stressful as we were required to write a 7,500 word dissertation whilst expected to work full-time.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
Support has been great, any team I have joined have been so welcoming and always appreciate when I ask for help. Also, if I ever need anything my career coach is available.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
2/5
The University try to provide as much as they can but I think it's quite difficult when it is such a short period of time.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
2/5
I haven't really used knowledge from my qualification and applied to my client work. I have learned more about audit from practising it than studying it.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
Yes, work offer a range of activities - most notably their month-end socials which the whole core audit unit is invited to. It's a good thing to meet new people at.
