My daily role consists of several different tasks such as selling holidays, providing excellent customer service, completing in store and online training, carrying out foreign exchange transactions and helping out with admin i.e. emails, documentation.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I enjoy my programme as I am eager to learn and have had many positive learning experiences since starting the course. I am eager to learn and feel like the many opportunities to further my knowledge are enjoyable and readily available.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have gained a huge amount of confidence, especially when it comes to meet & greets, how to use the sales systems, gaining product knowledge, understanding the legal/regulations/policy in the travel industry, understanding how the ForEx bureau works including using IRS and selling insurance.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

The programme is very well structured due to the many opportunities for training, the BUD Platform to keep on track of my learning, we have regular training sessions and progress reviews and the guidance and support to get through the EPA process.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

There are many ways to receive support whilst I am completing my apprenticeship including from the Branch/Assistant Managers, the Regional manager and the Learning & Development coaches.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

We have regular 1-2-1 meetings and reviews with the Learning & Development coaches, and all of the managers/assistants are friendly and approachable when I have any questions about my training/getting sales. My work is regularly checked and I am given feedback on it so I know where to improve.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I will be gaining an Industry Recognised qualification that I can put towards further career progression or use the transferrable skills in other areas. The fact that I am working towards a qualification gives me motivation to push myself as far as I can.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

There are plenty of extra activities to get involved with including external training events, roadshows and supplier trainings.

Why?
I am working with many knowledgeable experienced colleagues and am pushed to be the best I can be. My confidence has improved massively alongside my knowledge and the support I have received has been unmatched.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Hays Travel?
Have confidence in yourself and recognise your strengths but also where you have space to improve. Trust in your colleagues and use their knowledge and experience to build your own, and take every learning opportunity you can.
