Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

My role consists of taking calls from regulated firms and assisting them with any queries they have regarding any of their regulatory reporting requirements or applications they may need to complete due to certain business changes they may under go during the financial Year.

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I have enjoyed my programme to a large extent as it has allowed me to make a lot of beneficial connections around the company and also allowed me to further widen my knowledge around the financial system. I have gained a lot of valuable knowledge to help further my career.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have been able to improve my communication skills and also my further knowledge on Regulation in the Uk and what requirements regulated firms.

How well organised/structured is your programme?

it is structured through having set break and lunch times to ensure we can handle the large wave of calls that we receive from firms

How much support do you receive from your employer?

we receive a lot of support from our employer, through coaching sessions and training sessions and also being able to have 1 to 1 sessions with your manager to discuss any queries we may have.

How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

we receive alot of support from our training provider through frequent meetings with a skills coach, and also have live tutoring sessions aswell to assist us with our learning

How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I believe the qualification does slightly help me in my role as the knowledge gained during the learning allows me to widen my knowledge around the financial system and being able to be confident when dealing with complex queries from firms when they call in

Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

we do have an opportunity as apprentices to work with the Graduates on a community project in the first year of our programme, where we work together to develop a project that revolves around the FCAs values which we present to the CEO of the FCA at the end of the year, and the best team with the most valuable project wins.

Why?

I would recommend the FCA to a friend as i believe the work that we do here is very beneficial and also Regulation in itself is quite a unique part of the financial system and its very interesting.

What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Financial Conduct Authority (FCA)?

one valuable tip i would give is to really try to understand the FCA in depth and to really try to understand what kind of work we do and how it would apply to different roles and also the impact on the financial services system
