Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
Carrying out audit testing, working closely with audit managers, and communicating with clients.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
2/5
The study is enjoyable and I am able to balance it with work, however recent changes within the company and low pay has left me feeling unmotivated.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Absolutely, communication skills, technical knowledge, and a range of other soft skills are improved every day.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
The programme is well structured by my training provider. Although support from my organisation is poor and often feels like they aren't interested in their AAT trainees.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
We get the day before an exam to revise and an array of portfolio days to ensure we can nail our apprenticeships.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
I get lots of support from my training provider, my tutor is always available to answer and questions and external support is also provided.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
My qualification helps me perform better in my role across many areas, although not all modules are completely relevant, they are still beneficial to my overall knowledge as a professional.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
There are social activities, but they mostly consist of drinking or lunches. Personally I enjoy them, but they aren't for everyone.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Old Mill to a friend?
No
Why?
The culture and low pay make it difficult to recommend to others looking to enter the accountancy world.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Old Mill?
Deliver on giving trainees a clear path of progression instead of continually promising this with no result. Pay better, especially when you share the performance numbers with us, we want to see our hard work result in reward.
