I was trained to analyse data and turn it into actionable intelligence using the resources of the MoD. On a day to day basis I usually work on my apprenticeship and complete admin, I have done very little trade related work even after six months at unit.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

My apprenticeship is relatively enjoyable however it could be much more focused on military intelligence and less on business principles/people management.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

The apprenticeship has reminded me of previous skills learned at university especially writing professionally. It has taught me new skills in relation to creating data visuals via Excel.

A certain amount of support but an influential figure in my workplace seems to think that the apprenticeship is a skive and can be very uncooperative when told that it needs time out of our working day to be developed.

How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I wouldn’t say it helps me perform better in my role but it definitely gives me a better idea of the Army at large when I am looking into such large topics as I did in my Data Analysis Report.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

I get involed in the cross-country when I can. Apart from that, not really.
Recommendations & Advice
Would you recommend The Army to a friend?
No
Why?
I think for people who already have a qualification higher than the Level 4 provided, the apprenticeship holds SP back. Especially in my case where I joined to be a linguist but need to wait a full year at unit doing a Level 4 apprenticeship when I already have a university degree. It seems to make very little sense and hugely effects the motivation and morale of OPTIs hoping to go down the language route.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to The Army?
Try get reports and other work done well ahead of time but most importantly communicate as much as possible with your mentor and apprenticeship coach.
