Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
3/5
Work as part of an engineering team to support the mechanical aspects of aircraft at 6 Sqn, RAF Lossiemouth. Involves reporting faults, and rectifying reported faults
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
Work is both enjoyable and stressful at times but peers make the experience better

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
3/5
I have developed teamwork skills, followership, critical thinking, and improved confidence

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
2/5
Organisation could definitely be improved, and talking to peers both local to my sqn and also elsewhere, the experience feels quite inconsistent between people and places
How much support do you receive from your employer?
3/5
It varies from day to day, most of the time my employer is very helpful however sometimes people are too busy to give me their full attention
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
I receive plenty of help from my training provider and also my peers towards forwarding my qualifications
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
With certain aspects the qualifications will definitely help but I've already seen some aspects of the qualifications that have limited real world applications
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
My squadron provides plenty of opportunities outside of work to have fun

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend RAF to a friend?
No
Why?
I think the apprenticeship is good however for someone else I think they could get similar benefits in an easier and less stressful environment
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to RAF?
I would give the advice to put up with all of the negatives because it's worth it in the long run
