Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
3/5
Supporting and supervising the maintaining of survival equipment.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
Long winded, but if time and personnel levels allow, it's good to be able to move around the bays

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
Communication, hands on technical skills, teamwork

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
2/5
The process moved around too many times during the process, so when you feel you're nearing the end, you find out extra has been added.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
3/5
A lot was down to your own management, but had to make sure was available personnel to cover you going to other bays. This slowed down the process as on a base with not many people, this proved difficult to achieve at times.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
2/5
Very little in regards to the EPA to begin with, but once it appeared the station was struggling, a workshop was created. This helped and as more people of my trade went through, the instructors understood what we done and how to tailor our answers for this.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
Not much, I feel that most of the on the job training helps me perform better. The qualification just proves that I can do it
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
Been deployed on various exercises. Also a member of a sport club

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend RAF to a friend?
No
Why?
You can get the same if not similar jobs in civvi life for the same if not more pay and don't have to deal with the extra things such as fitness test, guard and other duties
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to RAF?
Take advantage of the extra curricular activities like eagle schemes and sport. These experiences are free/discounted and allow you to experience things you never thought you normally could.
