Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
2/5
In my role we act as the landlord of our buildings on site. We interact and communicate with our tenants and react to work orders raised by them and other members of staff, who request changes, upgrades and improvements to the buildings and site they are based in. These requests then become minor projects that we manage from start to finish.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
1/5
I enjoy the job role and look forward forward to working further into this once I am out of my time; however, my programme has been very disjointed and wasn't effective in teaching me my role until my third year, with a lot of wasted time and potential.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
3/5
I have learned how to manage a project, communicate with internal and external stakeholders and liaise with contractors. As well as this I have learned how to use Excel more efficiently, and how to utilise it to track projects both individually and within a team.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
1/5
My programme has had a lot of difficulties, with a standard having to be changed in the third year. Both before and after this time have been poor structured and not well organised, with little plans in place for placement route, and no standardisation in place with things like a Portfolio of Evidence so we have had to keep our own log along the way.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
1/5
Our employer has tried to support along the way however there has always been a lack of communication and understanding throughout, with me having to take a lot of aspects on myself to keep myself supported.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
A good amount of support is available to achieve my qualifications.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
Although my qualification is very relevant to my role, I feel it is more my job role that's helps me with assignments for my qualification, as it provides contacts to the topics and questions. The assignments have been useful is providing me with a deeper understanding of certain aspects and more about how the function works.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
I get heavily involved in extra curricular activities. I am co-chair of our Local Apprentice Council here, which means I help manage a group of craft and technical apprentices. We meet monthly to discuss apprentice issues, safety concerns, as well as many other topics and work together to find solutions and approve the overall apprentice experience. We also act as the face and voice of apprentices, representing the LAC at various business events throughout the year where there are many opportunities to network with other functions in the business. As well as this we work as a LAC to plan out own charity or social events.
