Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

My role is to look after and maintain survival equipment in the Royal air Force, for the benefit of pilots and aircrew.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I enjoy my programme a lot as each day I am presented with different problems to solve, which can deliver challenges, while being under a short time frame

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Since starting I've learnt general good engineering practises such as the importance and organisation of tool control, electrical and mechanical hand skills

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

My programme during training is structured well as during we learn the fundamentals to engineering such as mech and elec hand skills before moving on into trade training which is broken down into 3 modules.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

During training I have a lot of available support offered to me not only by my instructors but by my TDC's.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

During training I have a lot of available support offered to me not only by my instructors but by my TDC's in order to achieve my Level 3 apprentiship.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

By gaining my quals through the RAF i am able to maintain a high standard of discipline and thoroughness to my work, especially as i work on kit which is serviced incorrectly can be detrimental to the users life.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

While being in the RAF I am constantly exposed to various of clubs to me including go karting, football, badminton etc. My trade also has a beer call every so often which provides a friendly social at the end of the working day.

Why?
The qualifications and experience you can gain from an apprentiship in the RAF is far more fulling than a civvy one.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to RAF?
To be confidant and get involved with all socials and sports available to you which will make your time better while doing your apprentiship.
